Using HandBrake, FFMpeg, Adobe Media Encoder to Compress Video
Lucky you are here. We have carefully selected and assembled a list of the best video converter software you can get right now. We had repeatedly tested VideoProc video converter and was surprised to find it can convert videos at speed up to 47x times faster than the real-time playback while keeping the CPU usage at around 0.
During the transcoding process, we had no problem to write emails, watch movies, and run other programs. No worry about quality loss if you are using VideoProc video converter.
Thus, people who want to convert video for freeing up space will also benefit a lot from this awesome video converter. This fancy video converter software kept the CPU usage at 0. After the conversion, the file size dropped to Adobe Media Encoder is a top-notch paid video converter. It's capable of converting almost all the existing video codecs, so there is no worry about codec things when applying this serious video converter to transcode or remux video files.
Besides, it enables the dynamic link with Adobe series products. This brings much convenience for video editing experts who need to polish a large amount of videos that come in different codecs.
However, it's very possibly a long process with trial and error to learn all its bells and wrestles for beginners.
They hey have to dive their headfirst into the obscure codec terminologies before successfully converting the first video clip. Adobe Media Encoder is not for armatures. It acquires large memory and CPU for the entire decoding and encoding process.
Thus, if you don't have a well build machine, this daunting video converter can leave your other processes paralyzed. In the output-format setting tab of Adobe Media Encoder, you're going to see a great number of lossless formats options.
This making Adobe Media Encoder the best video converter software for people whose target is getting some lossless video files. The conversion speed of Adobe Media Encoder is overall slow. To avoid unfairly tied the hands of this heavy video converter, we tested over 20 times with different clips with different settings on target bitrate and codecs.
However, we got a similar slow conversion process. It runs on all recent Mac and Windows 64 bit. Prism Video Converter also enables to rip DVD and Blu-ray discs, and it even allows you to choose the preferred language for the digital copy.
Thus, it's definitely one of the best free video converters for quick video conversion. However, I'd have to admit, it still has many limitations in terms of the adjustments on video properties. For example, it doesn't allow you to set up a specific video bitrateaudio sample rate, and the resolution you can convert to is constrained to 2K. Prism Video Converter has better performance than a lot of high-cost video converter in terms of CPU and memory usage.
This free video converter software loses in the conversion speed. Averagely, it took 7 times longer than VideoProc needs to convert the same video with nearly the same target bitrate and compression codec.
Download HandBrake 1.3.3 Download For Windows 10, 8, 7 PC
One of the best free video converter currently available has to be HandBrake. It provides beginners with presets for quick conversion but still comes with tons of options for advanced users to customize the video bitrate, frame rate, resolution, and other properties.
The support of modern GPU encoding is a big plus as it can accelerate the whole conversion process at the speed 2X to 3X faster than the real-time playback.
And the adopted x encoding enables HandBrake to generate high-quality videos without taking up large storage space.I've been encoding my physical media in x for years, but I'm wanting to move to x for smaller file sizes. I've been using very slow on the encoder preset under optimize video in Handbrake, and I've been under the impression that has zero bearing on quality and merely does a better job of optimizing for smaller file sizes. Is that the same for x?
My X can do p very slow about 40 FPS on average, but with x it brings it to it's knees I gave it a shot and it was faster than x on very slow and I still ended up with a smaller file.
Can't really tell the difference, but the source on this is pretty bad. I'll have to run some more tests with something cleaner. Impact on quality seems to be mostly from the RF slider. I'm after both quality retained and small as they'll go without dipping into placebo speed foolishness. I'll have to try it with something cleaner.
The source on this one was super dirty. Lot's of grain and other anomalies. Either the transfer is rubbish or the source was rubbish. Slightly better than p TBH. I opt to leave the grain fully intact.
It does result in larger files, but the degrain filters, even when run very lightly, can produce that glossy effect on faces and such that is very distracting. If it's a bad transfer, there's just not much you can do without wrecking the image in some other way. FYI, I'm gonna disagree on that other comment about 10bit producing better results. That's just not true, especially coming from an 8bit source. There are some narrow use cases the anime scene uses for converting old broadcasts into files that use a higher resolution, but for existing p content 10bit is not going to do anything helpful.
Handbrake doesn't even have a bit pipeline yet it's in the nightly builds last I heard. All the claims about 10bit avoiding color banding are baseless unless you are really crushing the quality to begin with, which if you are doing you end up with other problems coming along for the ride. You end up with a transcode for those clients if your file is 10bit. Yea the extra color space room is supposed to help with gradation at lower bitrates.

I have a YouTube channel and post a video every week day. For me the convenience of not having to go through two encodes means I don't bother with handbreak. You will get good quality out of ME but for larger file sizes than HB.
If you're concerned about upload time or hard drive space than HB is worth it. Otherwise I would just export with ME and live with larger files. I'm a fulltime RVer, trying to upload a video every day not always successful, thoughso file size is a huge factor for me, since I'm often uploading over my LTE data plan I'm editing on a Surface Pro 3, so the double-encode means it's frequently taking longer to encode and upload than it took to shoot and edit Edit: looks like your cpu supports quicksync so you should be able to get some wicked fast encodes on handbrake if you can get it there from premiere.
Even after installing an x codec, It still doesn't turn out as well.
I typically use x MP4 15,kbps on two pass. Be sure to double check picture settings and turn off any filters, handbrake likes to auto-crop letter boxing.
If either of you guys know of a way to get directly to HB, and thus bypass the intermediate AVI, I'd love to know about it. Is there a way to go direct from Premiere to Handbrake, or are you like me using a double-encoding workflow?
I really wish someone would update Debugmode Frameserver for CC. I don't think it's worked since CS6. Have I overlooked something? I tried in CC and then again right after CC first came out, but admittedly haven't tried it in a while. What's weird is that ages after CS6 came out they finally did an update so it would work with 64 bit Premiere, but for some reason that didn't translate over to CC.
Maybe they'll eventually do a CC one as well, but as it stand currently it still says CS6 on the page:. Google cache link appears to be dead too now. May have been a later reply.
